The Bloc Vote Comes At a Price. Rachel Reeves is Paying It.
Robert Jenrick wants to know why Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, is friends with a fanatic called Arshad Khatana and why she has been going round his house for lunch.
Khatana's fanaticism is not subtle. He shared a military video glorifying terrorists. He hosted preachers with vile views at his Leeds mosque. He called for revenge against India. He hates Jews. He attacks anyone who defies his version of Islam.
Reeves is not the only senior Labour politician who has found herself in bed with such men.
Across the country, Labour is now held ransom to Pakistani men like this. They deliver the bloc Muslim vote, and in return they expect compliance, reward and protection. Every Labour politician knows exactly what happens if they step out of line.
So here is the question for Robert Jenrick and his Reform colleagues. What are you actually going to do about the infiltration of our democracy by Pakistani sectarians and Islamists? What specific actions will you take to protect our democracy from Islamists and the biraderi networks that prop them up?
I know what I'd do. I'd go after the biraderi in the same way as the Americans went after the Mafia.
