SHAUN DAVIES TRIED TO STOP THE TELFORD RAPE GANG INQUIRY. LABOUR MADE HIM MP AND THEN GOVERNMENT WHIP.

THEY RAPED MORE THAN 1,000 CHILDREN IN TELFORD. SOME WERE 11. LUCY LOWE WAS 14 WHEN SHE HAD A CHILD BY THE MAN WHO WAS ABUSING HER. SHE WAS 15 AND PREGNANT AGAIN WHEN HE SET FIRE TO HER HOME AND BURNED HER TO DEATH WITH HER MOTHER, HER SISTER AND HER UNBORN CHILD. AFTER HER MURDER THE MEN USED HER NAME TO KEEP THE OTHER GIRLS QUIET, TELLING THEM THEY WOULD BE NEXT IF THEY EVER SPOKE.

Telford child sex abuse went on for generations, inquiry finds
Agencies blamed children and not perpetrators for the abuse suffered in Telford, the report says.

The police and the council knew what was being done to those girls and left them to it for another twenty years. When the truth finally came out, the Labour leader of the council wrote to the Home Secretary to stop an inquiry. The man who tried to stop it went on to become MP. He has now been promoted to Labour Government Whip.

In July 2022, Tom Crowther KC's independent inquiry concluded that an estimate of up to 1,000 children sexually exploited over three decades was reasonable, and recorded that those who knew the cases called that figure conservative.

The police, the council and the other agencies had the warning signs in front of them for years and did nothing with them. The girls were written off as prostitutes and blamed for what grown men did to them. Crowther found that nervousness about race had discouraged investigations. The girls had told him the men were Pakistani. He wrote their word down once, as their description, and then gave his own finding as men of "southern Asian heritage". The nervousness he found in the police and the council runs through his own report.

The police knew who the men were. The council knew which girls were being passed between them. Lucy Lowe's murder told the girls of Telford who were thinking of speaking exactly what it would cost them.

Then the council leader tried to stop anyone looking. On 22 September 2016, Shaun Davies, the Labour leader of Telford and Wrekin Council, wrote to the Home Secretary that "we do not feel at this time that a further inquiry is necessary". For two years the council found reasons to say no.

Lucy Allan, Telford's MP at the time, listed them in the Commons. The national inquiry would cover Telford. An inquiry would cost too much. Ofsted had given the council a good report. There was nothing to see. Only after sustained pressure from survivors and campaigners did Telford commission Crowther's investigation.

THE INQUIRY TELFORD GOT HAD NO POWER TO COMPEL A SINGLE WITNESS. THE DETECTIVE WHO RAN THE LUCY LOWE CASE AND THE COUNCIL'S CHIEF EXECUTIVE STAYED AWAY FROM IT.

The survivors asked for a statutory inquiry with the power to summon witnesses. Davies gave them one without it. Crowther took evidence from 170 witnesses.

  • Eleven people refused to give evidence, provided very limited evidence, or refused permission for their contact details to be passed to Crowther's inquiry.
  • Another 20 people could not be interviewed. Seven could not be located despite repeated attempts. Another 13 had known contact details but failed to respond despite repeated attempts.
  • Victor Brownlees, chief executive of Telford & Wrekin Council from 2009 to 2011 and formerly acting director of children's services, declined to meet the inquiry. He submitted a very brief statement by email and said he had retained no council documents after leaving.
  • Clive Harding, a West Mercia Police Detective Chief Inspector who led the Lucy Lowe triple murder investigation, declined to speak to the inquiry. He argued that the original investigation records contained everything relevant. Crowther wrote to him again, but Harding did not reply.
  • Geoff Harding, a retired West Mercia Police Detective Chief Inspector who subsequently worked for Telford & Wrekin Council as an Integrated Services Manager supporting children and families, declined to meet the inquiry. He submitted a very short written summary through West Mercia Police. Crowther described his inability to recall relevant child sexual exploitation cases as remarkable.
  • Shropshire Council, whose predecessor had responsibility for children's social services in Telford until 1998, provided responses Crowther described as potentially combative. A request for historical taxi licensing information remained partially outstanding when he published his report, although Crowther did not believe the council had deliberately withheld documents.

Crowther said the four witnesses he named for staying away did not materially affect his conclusions. I do not accept that. Davies himself admitted to Parliament on 21 January 2025 that people the inquiry wanted to talk to did not come forward. An inquiry that 31 people could refuse, dodge or vanish from, that a former chief executive could answer by email, and that a neighbouring council could stonewall was the inquiry Shaun Davies chose for Telford's children.

The National Inquiry is entering the phase that will decide not just where it goes, but what it is prepared to confront once it gets there.

That is why the pressure cannot stop at getting places named.

Red Wall and the Rabble is now more than 15,000 strong. In the last three months, more than 1,000 people have committed to a paid subscription, and 250,000 people have read one of my investigations so far this year.

We forced Oldham onto the list. We showed the way in Bradford. We campaigned relentlessly in Birmingham and across Wales, and both were named.

None of it was handed to us.

And now the next fight begins. Making sure the Inquiry actually asks the questions politicians and institutions spent decades avoiding.

No political party funds this work. No institution stands behind me. Everything I publish remains free because the evidence needs to reach as many people as possible.

The people who pay are the people who give me the independence to keep investigating, keep applying pressure and keep forcing these questions into the open.

We set out to reach 2,000 paid subscribers. We still need another 1,000 more.

If you want this Inquiry to go where the evidence leads, regardless of who it embarrasses, who it exposes or which political interests it threatens, become one of the next 1,000.

UPGRADE NOW

AND TELFORD TODAY.

In July 2024, Shaun Davies became Telford's Labour MP. In May 2026, he was appointed Assistant Government Whip. On 22 July 2026, he was promoted to Government Whip, formally Junior Lord of the Treasury. The man who argued against a further inquiry into the rape of Telford's children enforces discipline among Labour MPs.

Anne Longfield chairs a statutory inquiry with the power to compel the witnesses Crowther could not. Telford is not on her list. On 17 July 2025 the council's Labour leader, Lee Carter, passed a motion that welcomed any role the inquiry might give Telford and wrote to the Home Secretary to say so. He did not demand a local investigation. Neither has Shaun Davies.

If Longfield has any desire to expose the cover up, she must name Telford herself. Maybe I can help her.

Last night, I drove to Telford to meet with a whistleblower. What I know now will destroy the council. It will also expose the Labour Party's part in the rape gang cover up in a way nothing before it has. When it is published, Longfield will have to name Telford. It is my intention to publish this weekend.

You know what we are up against. The mainstream media will not touch my work. Institutions I investigate do not volunteer their records. Politicians do not suddenly decide to hold themselves to account.

And yet, despite every attempt to stop us, we forced the national inquiry. We did that because enough ordinary people refused to go away.

But getting the inquiry was never the end of this campaign. In many ways it was only the beginning. Now we have to watch where it goes, what it investigates, which places it avoids, which witnesses it calls, which records it obtains and whether the same institutions that failed these children are allowed to control the story again.

Nobody else is going to do that work for us. And I cannot do it indefinitely working on my own. That is why I keep talking about 50,000 committed subscribers.

It is not a vanity number. I did not pluck it out of the air. With fifty thousand people with me means when we uncover something important, it does not depend on a newspaper editor, a television producer or an algorithm deciding whether you are allowed to see it.

It gives us reach they cannot easily shut down.

But there is another reason. I need to build a proper backroom operation around this work. At the moment I am investigating, researching, writing, publishing, producing the videos, running the newsletter, dealing with the technology and then starting again. It is unsustainable.

I need people behind me who can take care of the technical and production work so that I can spend my time doing the thing I do best. That is why we have been pushing so hard for new paid subscribers.

If you read my work and want it to continue, I need your help. Sign up for free. There are no paywalls to access any of my work. If you can afford the £3 a month or £30 for the year, please become a paid subscriber.

We forced the inquiry. Now we need the numbers to make sure they cannot control what happens next. Unfortunately, we are reaching the end of the road where I can continue working this way.

The paid subscriptions have stalled. The audience is growing, but the number of people actually standing behind the work is not growing with it. Over a million people engaged in my content this week. Only a small fraction followed up with a subscription to my newsletter This is becoming impossible to sustain.

Have a look around you. No on else in this country is doing the work that I do, never mind for nearly a decade. All I'm asking in return is that you sign up to a newsletter and add weight to our ability to take on the government. Is that too much to ask?

For eight years I have exposed how politicians, police and public bodies failed working class White girls who were systematically raped by Pakistani grooming gangs. Together, with the support of the people of Oldham, we forced the Government to concede a National Statutory Inquiry after years of resistance.

Children gang raped, communities betrayed, politicians and police officers involved protected, and you expected to shake your head and carry on as if nothing more can be done because lessons have been learned.

For eight years, I have refused. The police repeatedly dawn raided my home and falsified evidence to try and silence me. The newspapers smeared me. And Pakistani gangsters, under the protection of Labour politicians, followed me home. Islamists openly incited my murder.

Blacklisted by the mainstream media, only your support makes it possible for me to keep exposing the truth those in power want buried.

They sold children for votes and sacrificed entire towns and cities at their altar of multiculturalism. I help you make sense of it. And I help you fight back.

We’re up against a machine, politicians, police, officials, and media, working together to shrink, sanitise, and bury the truth. This work survives because of you.

If you’ve ever shared my posts, learned something, or felt less alone reading them, stand with me. I need your help.
