Rape Gangs Operated in Nearly One in Four UK Local Authorities

The news that 85 local authorities have now been identified as areas where grooming gangs operated is a turning point in this long, shameful saga. For decades, survivors were silenced, campaigners smeared, and communities gaslit. We were told the abuse was isolated, exaggerated, or fabricated. Now, the evidence is undeniable.

Out of 382 local authorities in the UK (317 in England, 32 in Scotland, 22 in Wales, and 11 in Northern Ireland) 85 are already confirmed as places where grooming gangs operated. That’s 22% of the entire country. Nearly one in four.
This matters not just for statistics, but because it shatters the official narrative, vindicates survivors, and forces the nation to confront the full scale of the betrayal.
This is only what we know so far. The data is compiled from witnesses that have come forward and responses received from FOI requests. The real figure will be much higher. The list will grow.
When we first campaigned for a National Inquiry, Labour politicians smeared us as “far right” and “racist,” dismissing our warnings as “barefaced lies”.
As recently as January 2025, desperate to keep the scandal contained, and to downplay the industrial-scale rape of this country’s children, the Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and the Minister for Safeguarding Girls, Jess Phillips, proposed just five local inquiries. None were to have statutory powers. Each was to be run by the very councils, police forces, and politicians implicated in the original cover-ups.
That damage-limitation exercise collapsed. Under pressure, Yvette Cooper was finally forced to concede a National Inquiry. But even that, today, has stalled with the government still trying to limit the fall out.
Today's information released by The Rape Gang Inquiry just adds more pressure on the government.
Our Rape Gang Inquiry has today released research detailing eighty-five local authorities in which the gang-based sexual exploitation of children is taking place, or has historically done so. This is one of the most comprehensive exposes of the rape gang scandal to date.

The naming of 85 councils is not just a statistic. It is a national reckoning.
It tells us:
- This was never a handful of towns. It was a national pattern.
- This was never about ignorance. It was about institutional complicity.
- This was never “historic”. It is about the present day.
For too long, the establishment tried to paint campaigners as extremists for demanding justice. Now, with nearly a quarter of local authorities exposed, it is clear who the extremists were: the ones willing to sacrifice children on the altar of political convenience.
We are only at the beginning of uncovering the full truth. Survivors are still waiting. Communities are still reeling. The National Inquiry, already delayed, must not be allowed to become another whitewash.
Because if 85 councils can already be named, then the question is not whether grooming gangs were operating in your town. The question is: why didn’t your council, your police, and your politicians tell you?
I am Raja Miah. For six years, I led a small team that exposed how politicians protected the rape gangs.
During this time, Labour politicians tried everything possible to stop me. I spent 3 years on bail as case after case they fabricated against me collapsed in court. My mother died before I was able to clear my name.
Now the truth is out. In detail. The Pakistani Rape Gangs are real. And their victims, little White girls, number in the hundreds of thousands. So now the question is: will you stand with me and help make sure the National Inquiry we have all fought for is not a whitewash?
