Raja Miah MBE: Legal Action Against Jim McMahon MP

Funding legal action against Jim McMahon MP, who published false allegations to destroy my credibility as I exposed grooming gang cover-ups.

In February 2026, Jim McMahon MP published statements on X accusing me of covering up child sexual abuse, dismissing victims as liars, and channelling millions through companies I controlled.

Every allegation is false.

No Serious Case Review mentions me. The reports he cited contain no finding of misconduct against me. Yet these claims were presented as confirmed by official reports and capable of verification.

Instead of identifying any document supporting those claims, McMahon’s lawyers now say that I have misunderstood what was said. They argue that no reasonable reader would take his statements to mean that official reports confirmed I covered up abuse or channelled millions.

They even claim there is no requirement for him to prove the truth of his allegations. At the same time, I have been warned that pursuing this case carries significant financial risk.

McMahon published these statements at the precise moment I was campaigning to inform the terms of reference of the national inquiry and who it would hold accountable. He did not simply make allegations. He declared that my “record” was one of covering up abuse, not fighting for victims.

For nearly eight years, my work has exposed the cover up of the grooming gangs and what was done on an 'industrial scale' to this nation's children. That work contributed to the pressure that led to the national inquiry.

During that time, my home was repeatedly dawn raided by the police. I spent three years on bail. My mother died before I was able to clear my name. Every allegation made against me ultimately collapsed in court.

Now, at the moment that inquiry is taking shape, I am being accused publicly, by one of the most powerful Labour Party politicians in the country, of covering up child abuse. Why?

If I cannot fund this case, these allegations go unanswered and a clear message is sent about what happens to those who challenge institutional failure.

A successful outcome will require these allegations to be withdrawn. It will require a public correction. And it will establish that claims presented as supported by official reports must in fact be supported by them.

If I don’t challenge this then powerful politicians can accuse anyone of covering up child abuse, say it’s confirmed by official reports, and never have to prove it.
