Hiding from the Truth

Starmer’s Defence Collapses in Epstein Row
The sacking of Peter Mandelson as Ambassador to the United States has blown a hole straight through Keir Starmer’s credibility. Mandelson wasn’t removed because of routine politics. He was dismissed because emails showed he supported Jeffrey Epstein while Epstein was facing prison for abusing minors.
“I think the world of you,” Mandelson wrote in 2008, urging Epstein to fight for early release. That’s not friendship. That’s lobbying for a convicted paedophile.
Starmer defended Mandelson in Parliament. He only acted when the emails were published by Bloomberg. That is not leadership. That is cowardice.

Now Starmer claims he “did not know the full extent.” But Epstein’s conviction was public. His reputation was global. MI6 and the Cabinet Office would have vetted Mandelson in detail. Either Starmer saw the evidence and ignored it, or he deliberately avoided the truth. Both are damning.
A Prime Minister in hiding
And when the crisis hit Parliament, Starmer didn’t even turn up. He sent a junior minister to face the music. The debate humiliated Starmer and his government. No senior cabinet minister dared appear to defend or explain how Mandelson was ever appointed. It reinforced what many already see. This is a government out of its depth and out of control.

In the days since Mandelson’s sacking, many have highlighted the double standards. Mandelson, tied by his own words to Epstein, still holds the Labour whip in the Lords. Yet Rachael Maskell lost the whip in July for the crime of voting against welfare cuts. Diane Abbott still sits without the whip. Both of them watched in silence from the Labour benches as the debate unfolded. Starmer's hypocrisy is staggering.
Claiming ignorance is not a defence. It is an admission of dereliction.
This is not an isolated scandal. The victims of Jimmy Savile were failed. The victims of the grooming gangs were failed. The victims of Epstein were failed. And the public is being failed again by a Prime Minister who thinks denial and delay will save him.
Labour MPs now face a test. If they let Starmer survive, it is not just his shame. It is theirs. It will prove every Labour MP is comfortable standing behind a leader who shields men who rape and traffic children.
Starmer’s defence has collapsed. His authority is broken. His position is untenable. He must resign. If he doesn't, then every Labour MP is also complicit in supporting paedophiles.
