Oldham Assurance Review Exposed As A Cover-Up of the Rape Gang Cover-Up
We now know that the 2020 Home Office paper Group based child sexual exploitation characteristics of offending wasn’t simply flawed. It was a deliberate act of misinformation, carefully constructed to obscure the uncomfortable truth about the disproportionate involvement of Pakistani men in organised grooming gangs.
We must now say the same of the 2022 Oldham Assurance Review, fronted by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.
This report claimed it found “no evidence” of a widespread cover-up of child sexual exploitation in the borough. But, like the Home Office report, it has proven to be a strategic work of disinformation that attempted to facilitate a cover-up of the original cover-up.
When challenged, Burnham defended his sham investigation with the following words:
"At some point we need to start to bring this town back together, bring confidence to the arrangements in Greater Manchester and follow this process through."
This was not a call for healing. It was a thinly veiled instruction to stop asking questions. The message to campaigners such as myself was clear: “We’ve done the inquiry. We found no cover-up. It’s time to move on. If you keep pressing, you’re just causing trouble.”
I’m sharing this now for a very specific reason:
The Oldham Assurance Review was fronted at a public meeting on 27th June 2022. At no point then, or in the months that followed, did Burnham acknowledge any of its shortcomings. On the contrary, he publicly praised his investigators as:“Nationally-recognised independent experts, Malcolm Newsam CBE and Gary Ridgway.”
It wasn’t until January 2025, more than two years later after the scandal had reached global headlines, that Burnham began to quietly reference “limitations” in his inquiries.
Baroness Louise Casey has confirmed to the Home Affairs Select Committee that she changed her mind in support of a National Inquiry after reviewing the failings in Burnham’s reports.
Burnham's so called Assurance Reviews primary motivations were never about exposing the truth. They were about shielding his Labour Party friends across Gtr Manchester, including the now government minister and previous Oldham Council leader Jim McMahon MP and his Pakistani gangster endorsed sidekick, and Chair of the National Constitutional Committee of the Labour Party, Arooj Shah.
The Labour Party Cover Up
My position is clear. Andy Burnham is not a bystander to this cover-up. He is a key participant.
The Oldham Assurance Review wasn’t just insufficient, it was an attempt to cover up the truth of how Jim McMahon and others in Oldham knew children were being dragged off the streets and gang raped and attempted to cover this up. It attempted to assure the public there was nothing left to investigate and that Raja Miah was a liar.
And had we obeyed, the industrial-scale rape of working-class white girls by Labour-aligned Pakistani Muslim rape gangs would have stayed buried.
This is not a question of poor leadership. It is a question of criminal liability. Resignation is not enough. Andy Burnham must be prosecuted for his role in obstructing justice and covering up the organised rape of children in our communities.
The truth is out. The world is watching. And justice is coming.
