AYOUB KHAN SAID THE RAPE GANG NARRATIVE MUST NOT CATCH AIR
SEVENTEEN MONTHS LATER, HE TOLD THE INQUIRY NOT TO FOCUS ON WHO THE RAPISTS WERE.
Ayoub Khan, the independent MP for Birmingham Perry Barr, told a room of British Pakistani politicians in April 2025 how the rape gang scandal should be handled. The occasion was the Mirpur Airport Demand Grand Conference in Birmingham, a gathering lobbying for an airport in Pakistan, and Tahir Ali, the Labour MP for Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley, was on the same panel.
Khan told the room that the rape gangs were being used by "the right-wing media and those that seek to undermine" and that, like Palestine and Kashmir, "it's a narrative that is done in order to sow division." "One of the things that we must make sure is that false narrative doesn't catch air," he said, adding that he had already spoken to Tahir Ali about it. "Because when that catches air, it runs round all communities and it causes division."
An MP told a room of Pakistani politicians that the job was to stop the rape of children becoming a story, and named the Labour MP he had discussed it with.
Khalid Mahmood, the Labour MP Khan had beaten by 507 votes, answered him at the time. Mahmood, himself of Pakistani heritage, described a Mirpuri Pakistani girl taken away for 24 hours and raped repeatedly who would not take her case forward because of the shame attached to it. "When this happens to white English girls, when they are pleading for help and no one takes any notice, then something has to be done," he said. "We can't describe it as a right-wing narrative." The man Khan replaced could say it. Khan could not.
SEVENTEEN MONTHS LATER HE TOLD THE INQUIRY NOT TO FOCUS ON THE RAPISTS
On 29 September 2026, the day before Baroness Anne Longfield named Birmingham for a statutory investigation, Khan wrote to Birmingham City Council, West Midlands Police, Birmingham Children's Trust and the inquiry itself. He warned them against "racialised blame" and "narratives that inflame division," and he told them the focus must be on victims and survivors "rather than the identities of perpetrators."

The inquiry's terms of reference require it to examine the role of the ethnicity, religion and culture of the perpetrators. Khan has no excuse for not knowing it, because he told Parliament the data must be collected.
On 1 June 2026, in a debate on recording the ethnicity and nationality of child sex offenders, he said the data must be collected "accurately, consistently and nationally," that cases involving Asian men and Muslims must not be ignored, and that "it means we investigate all of it." In the same speech he said some of those behind the petition appeared "far less interested in victims than in validating their own hatred of ethnic minorities, Muslims, migrants and foreign nationals," and that people who did that to "Pakistani, Muslim, Asian or migrant communities" were "not following the evidence; they are revealing a prejudice."
This is the pattern.
- In April 2025 the narrative must not catch air
- In June 2026 the data must be collected while some of the people demanding it are driven by hatred
- n September 2026 the inquiry must not focus on who the men were.
Khan supports the data being collected, and when the people asking for it look at Pakistani men he calls them prejudiced. On 29 September he asked a statutory inquiry to look away from something its terms of reference require it to examine.
WHEN I PUBLISHED HIS STATEMENT, HE ATTACKED ME
On 6 October I published Khan's statement in full, under a headline saying he had told the inquiry not to focus on who the rapists were. He responded on X. "You ought to stop cherry-picking. If credibility is the goal, perhaps post my full statement rather than the bits that suit your narrative. But I suppose raising funds may make selective quoting more tempting." He attached his full statement as proof. It is the same statement I had published, every word of it, in the article he was complaining about.
Three more posts followed. "You spin and spin and then your plea for money!!!" Then, "Are you a genuine concerned citizen, or just someone with a financial angle?" Then, "Stop deflecting! You intentionally cherry picked to suit your narrative and then beg for money! Hardly credible! I am not shying away from where evidence leads but equally I know that some simply choose to sow division for political gain!" Seventeen months after Mirpur, "sow division" was the phrase he reached for.

Not one of the four posts names a word I altered. Yes, ordinary people fund my work, and I am proud of it. No party pays me and no institution stands behind me, and everything I publish is free.
AT 12.22AM HE ASKED AN AI WHETHER HE HAD SAID IT
At 12.22am on 8 October Khan put a question to Grok, the AI chatbot on X. "has Ayoub khan MP said that ethnicities in grooming gangs should NOT be investigated???" Grok answered him with his own words. It told him that in his 29 September statement he wrote that the focus should be on victims and survivors "rather than the identities of perpetrators."

He did not reply to that. His next question was, "Was Raja Miah ever mentioned in parliament in 2022? If so what was said about him?" Grok gave him Jim McMahon's Commons speech from 30 June 2022, made under parliamentary privilege.
Faced with his own statement, Khan went looking for something to throw at me, and the best he could find was another politician's words, four years old. He could not find a fault in my article, so he went looking for a fault in me.
So I decided to go looking at Khan's past. Oh dear.
The National Inquiry is entering the phase that will decide not just where it goes, but what it is prepared to confront once it gets there.
Birmingham proves why that matters.
We fought to get the city onto the list. Now, before the first witnesses have even been heard, a Pakistani politician is already trying to decide which questions should be pushed out of focus.
That is why the pressure cannot stop at getting places named.
Red Wall and the Rabble is now more than 15,000 strong. In the last three months, more than 1,000 people have committed to a paid subscription, and 250,000 people have read one of my investigations so far this year.
We forced Oldham onto the list. We showed the way in Bradford. We campaigned relentlessly in Birmingham and across Wales, and both were named.
None of it was handed to us.
And now the next fight begins. Making sure the Inquiry actually asks the questions politicians and institutions spent decades avoiding.
No political party funds this work. No institution stands behind me. Everything I publish remains free because the evidence needs to reach as many people as possible.
The people who pay are the people who give me the independence to keep investigating, keep applying pressure and keep forcing these questions into the open.
We set out to reach 2,000 paid subscribers. We still need another 1,000 more.
If you want this Inquiry to go where the evidence leads, regardless of who it embarrasses, who it exposes or which political interests it threatens, become one of the next 1,000.
A JUDGE FOUND KHAN MADE A SCURRILOUS ALLEGATION IN COURT
Khan says my work is "hardly credible." He is a barrister, and his own record on credibility is in a published judgment.
In 2008 an election court heard a petition over the Aston council seat in Birmingham, and Khan, then a Liberal Democrat councillor and a member of the council's cabinet, gave evidence. The Elections Commissioner, Timothy Straker QC, found that Khan and the petitioner had made "an unwarranted attempt" to suggest the Labour councillor Muhammad Afzal was frightening witnesses to influence the case. He called the allegation "scurrilous and unwarranted."

He found that Khan's further claim, that Afzal's supporters were behind an arson attack on a car, was unsupported and unsubstantiated. Khan rejected the findings and applied for a judicial review, and in July 2009 two High Court judges refused him.
A barrister found to have made a scurrilous and unwarranted allegation against an opponent is now telling Birmingham that I am the one spinning.
KHAN MUST ANSWER FOR WHAT HE TOLD THE INQUIRY
I have asked Khan two questions more than once and he has not answered either.
- When did he campaign for a national inquiry into the rape gangs?
- When did he demand that Birmingham be included in it?
In June a cross-party letter asking for Birmingham to be investigated went to every Birmingham MP. Three people signed it. Khan was not one of them.
Khan should also explain why the narrative must not catch air and why the inquiry must not focus on the men.
I have told him twice to name the time and place. I will bring my camera and he can bring whoever he wants, and the offer stands.
Birmingham's inquiry has the power to compel the council and the police to hand over their files and to put officials under oath. It is required to examine who the perpetrators were. The council's own scrutiny report, prepared with Birmingham Children's Trust and presented on 30 September 2026, counted 143 children in the city at risk of or experiencing sexual exploitation. It still refuses to name the backgrounds of who the men are.
It is long past time we stopped running away from the truth. Working-class White girls have been gang-raped and trafficked on an industrial scale, not just in Birmingham, but in towns and cities across the United Kingdom. The men who committed these crimes were disproportionately of Pakistani heritage and Muslim.
It is now the responsibility of the National Inquiry to establish the correlation between the perpetrators’ ethnicity, religion and culture, the crimes they committed, and the institutional failures that allowed them to continue.
Neither Khan nor the National Inquiry will be able to stop this truth from being forced in to the light. A reckoning is coming. And there is nothing these people can do to stop it.
Raja Miah MBE
My name is Raja Miah MBE. For eight years I have exposed how politicians, police and public bodies failed working class White girls who were systematically raped by Pakistani grooming gangs. Together, with the support of the people of Oldham, we forced the Government to concede a National Statutory Inquiry after years of resistance.

Children gang raped, communities betrayed, politicians and police officers involved protected, and you expected to shake your head and carry on as if nothing more can be done because lessons have been learned.
For eight years, I have refused. The police repeatedly dawn raided my home and falsified evidence to try and silence me. The newspapers smeared me. And Pakistani gangsters, under the protection of Labour politicians, followed me home. Islamists openly incited my murder.
Blacklisted by the mainstream media, only your support makes it possible for me to keep exposing the truth those in power want buried.
They sold children for votes and sacrificed entire towns and cities at their altar of multiculturalism. I help you make sense of it. And I help you fight back.

We’re up against a machine, politicians, police, officials, and media, working together to shrink, sanitise, and bury the truth. This work survives because of you.
If you’ve ever shared my posts, learned something, or felt less alone reading them, stand with me. I need your help.
